Creating application links to other reports or external web pages

The following active report tools are used to create links.

• Report links
• iFrame

The Report links tool opens a window where you specify the target report that you want to open. The necessary controls and active report variables are then created by using parameters that are found in the target report. If you choose to open the target report in the current window, an iFrame is added to the report.

If you later want to change an application link or add a new link, select a control that was created, click the Refresh application link property, and choose one of the available options. When you edit an application link, you can modify Cognos Viewer settings or application parameters.

With the iFrame tool, you specify the target report or external web page that you want users to open. You must manually create the controls and variables that are needed to open the target report or web page.

When users run an active report that contains a report prompt or iFrame tool, they are prompted to select values in the controls that appear. The target report is then run, and the data in the target report is filtered by the selected values.
