Language settings

You can select the language for the IBM® Cognos® Analytics user interface. If your data and reports are available in multiple languages, you can also select the language for the content.

The following settings affect the language used for authoring and viewing reports:

Product language: You set the product language in My preferences. The product language controls the language of the user interface and all messages, including error messages.
Content language: You set the content language in My preferences. The content language consists of the language and region combinations that are supported for Content Manager objects, Framework Manager objects, Content Manager data formatting, report data formatting, report text (titles), and database data (if the database tool is configured to use locale). The data in a report is displayed in the content language, regardless of what the product language is set to. When you create a new report, the report language is set to this value.
Report language: You can set the report language in the report properties for a specific report. It determines model binding and literal data formats. The report language must be supported by the metadata model on which the report is based. It is used when a report or query specification is created. The report language appears as the expressionLocale in the report specification.
