Preparing to install

Before you install IBM® Cognos® Analytics, you must set up resources in your environment so that the components can operate. For example, you must create a database to use as a Cognos Analytics content store, and create a user account for Cognos Analytics.

If you use the Easy install (previously Ready to Run!) option to install Cognos Analytics (on Windows only), you do not need to create and configure a content store database. An Informix database is already configured as your content store, and Cognos Analytics can use it right away.
