Resource information
The Resource Information page provides features to specify and maintain indexer parameters related to the resources required to index the report. If the input data is AFP (or you are converting line data to AFP) and you do not specify resources and resource paths, then the indexing program fails. However, the graphical indexer does not require that you specify these parameters and does not validate the information that you specify.
For detailed information about these parameters, please see the Indexing Reference.
Here are available parameters:
- Form Definition
- The file name of the form definition. The indexing program requires a form definition to process AFP data or to convert line data to AFP. The file name can be from one to eight alphanumeric characters. Type the file name, not the file extension. However, the file extension must be FDEF3820, FDEF38PP, or FDE (or no file extension).
- Page Definition
- The file name of the page definition. The indexing program requires a page definition to process AFP data or to convert line data to AFP. The file name can be from one to eight alphanumeric characters. Type the file name, not the file extension. However, the file extension must be PDEF3820, PDEF38PP, or PDE (or no file extension).
- Resource File Contents
- The types of AFP resources that the indexing program collects in the resource group. Choose zero or more of Fonts, Form Definitions, Overlays, and Page Segment, IOCA, GOCA, and BCOCA objects. Because Content Manager OnDemand does not use AFP fonts to view documents, IBM recommends that you exclude fonts from the resource file. This reduces the number of bytes transmitted over the network when a document is retrieved for viewing.
- Search Paths
- Determines the paths that the indexing program searches for various resources.
For each type of resource, you can specify zero or more paths. Use the colon
(:) symbol to separate multiple paths. The indexing program searches for resources
in the following order:
- Paths specified in the User Directories field, if any.
- Paths specified in the Form Definitions, Fonts, Page Definitions, Page Segments, and Overlays fields, if any, for specific types of resources.
- Paths specified in the System Directories, if any.
