Password validation
About this task
Enter the password that you use to log on to the server where the application group is located, then click OK to proceed.
By default, the user ID is the ID that you used to log on to the server. If you use LDAP, the user ID is the ID that is associated with your LDAP ID, and you need to change it to your LDAP ID.
Deleting an application group not only deletes the system definition, but also deletes the data that is loaded in the application group. To provide another level of protection against the accidental deletion of an application group, a password is required. The password that must be provided is the same password that is used to log on to the server where the application group is located. The password is entered using a dialog that is displayed when the deletion is requested. The Password Validation dialog displays the name of the server where the application group is located. The user ID is also displayed to remind the user which user ID is currently being used so that the appropriate password can be entered.
When a user clicks OK, a server logon is performed. If the password is successfully validated, the server is logged off, the dialog is removed, and the delete application group process continues by displaying the Delete Application Groups dialog. If the user clicks OK on the Delete Application Groups dialog, the Confirm Delete Application Groups dialog is displayed next. Clicking OK on the Confirm Delete Application Groups dialog causes the application group to be deleted.
If the password is not successfully validated, an error message is displayed (for example, password is not valid, connection cannot be established, and so forth). The user can choose to click Cancel to cancel the delete operation or enter another password and then click OK.
If the password is expired, the user is prompted to change the password. After the password is changed or the password change operation is canceled, the user can choose to click Cancel on the Password Validation dialog to cancel the delete operation, or the user can enter a new password and then click OK. The server is logged on even in the case of an expired password so a logoff is performed after the expired password has been processed.
No logon or logoff messages are added to the System Log. However, if the logon fails, a failed logon message will be added to the System Log.
