Login processing
Note: The logon user exit is enabled on an IBM® i server. An IBM i user profile must exist for each Content Manager OnDemand userid. The IBM i security function validates the password.
For Multiplatforms and z/OS servers, the login processing system parameters allow you to determine whether userids and passwords are case sensitive.
By default, userids and passwords are case insensitive. When you add a user, Content Manager OnDemand converts lowercase letters in the userid to uppercase. The user can type the userid in uppercase, lowercase, or mixed case letters. For example, if you add the userid LaGuarde, the user can type LAGUARDE, laguarde, or LaGuarde to log on to the server.
If you select the User ID Case Sensitive checkbox, the user must type the userid exactly as it was typed when the user was added. For example, if you add the userid LaGuarde, the user must type LaGuarde to log on to the server.
If you select the Password Case Sensitive checkbox, the user must type the password exactly as it was typed when the user was added. For example, if you set the password to Spring2Far, the user must type Spring2Far to log on to the server.
IBM recommends that you decide whether you want userids and passwords to be case sensitive when you install the system, change the defaults if necessary, and do not change the settings again. Otherwise:
- If userids are initially case insensitive and you later select the UserID Case Sensitive checkbox, userids added before you changed the setting must be typed in uppercase. The same is true for passwords.
- If userids are initially case sensitive and you later clear the UserID Case Sensitive checkbox, userids containing mixed or lowercase letters that were added before you changed the setting is not valid. The same is true for passwords.
If users log on to the system with the CICS/ESA client program, then userids and passwords should be case insensitive.
