Database and displayed values

The Mapping area on the Field Information page provides you with the capability to identify an application (source of data) in the application group and define descriptive strings or aliases for obscure index values. Users can use this capability to limit a search to a specific application within the application group or retrieve only those records that contain one of the aliases.

You can assign alternate names in another language to each mapping. The Windows client can display the alternate names when it is running in the other language.

Content Manager OnDemand stores the database value in each row that is added to the database. By default, Content Manager OnDemand lists the displayed value in a folder search field. Users can limit a search by selecting a value from the list. By default, all applications or values are searched.

You can create mappings for all types of fields, except for the following types:
  • Decimal
  • DecFloat(16)
  • DecFloat(34)
  • Date (old style)
  • Date/Time (old style)
  • Date/Time (TZ) (old style)
