Application logical view fields options

Page Header Rows
Determines the number of lines that comprise the heading of the document. The heading usually appears in the top margin on every page of the document. For example, some headings contain the date that the document was generated, the page number, and the document's title. You can define a logical view so that Content Manager OnDemand locks the number of page header rows that you specify when users scroll vertically through pages of the report. When you calculate the number of page header rows to lock, include blank lines, where appropriate. For example, you probably want to include a blank line after the last text line of the heading to provide a space between the document heading and the field heading or the first line of text.
Field Header Rows
Determines the number of lines that comprise the field heading. The field heading usually appears in the top margin of a document, after the document heading (see Page Header Rows). The field heading usually contains the titles of the columns on the page. You can define a logical view so that Content Manager OnDemand locks the number of field header rows that you specify when users scroll horizontally through pages of the report. When you calculate the number of field header rows to lock, include blank lines, where appropriate. For example, you probably want to include a blank line after the last text line of the field heading to provide a space between the field heading and the first line of text.
Validation Row
Determines the record number that contains the Validation String. This is the number of the physical record in the input data that contains the Validation String, not where the information might appear when the page is printed or viewed.
Validation Column
Determines the column number at which point Content Manager OnDemand can locate the beginning of the Validation String. This is the number of the physical column in the record in the input data that contains the Validation String, not where the information might appear when the page is printed or viewed.
Validation String
The one to eight character string that Content Manager OnDemand uses to validate that the current page can be viewed with the logical view. Content Manager OnDemand searches each page in the document for the validation string. If the validation string is found on a page, then all of the logical view options are applied to that page. If the validation string is not found on a page, then the Lock Header, Lock Fields and Field Order options are not applied to that page, in other words, all fields are displayed and are not locked, and the header is not locked; however, the rest of the Logical View options, such as Selected Area Color, Background Color, and Heading Color, are applied.
Field Name
The name of the logical view field, that represents a field in the input data. Use the Field Definitions area to define the fields in the input data that can be selected as part of a logical view. Type a descriptive character string in the field. If you define field names for a logical view, users can search the document that they are viewing using the field as a key and specifying key values. The name you assign to the field appears in a list of search fields in the Find window. The user can select the field name and type a value to locate information contained in the document that they are viewing. Note: If you plan to use the Expression Find function, then blank characters are not permitted in the field name.
Application Group Database Name
A list of application group database field names. Allows you to link the logical view field to a field in the application group. Content Manager OnDemand uses the link to locate the specific line in a document that matches the search criteria specified by the user. For example, the user specifies a set of search criteria. Content Manager OnDemand performs the query and lists the documents that match the search criteria. The user selects a document from the list. The default logical view contains a logical view field linked to an application group field. Content Manager OnDemand performs a search within the document, using the search criteria the user specified for the linked field. Content Manager OnDemand highlights the line in the document that matches the search criteria.
Start Column
The column number in the input data at which point Content Manager OnDemand locates the beginning of the field. For logical views that have the Lock Fields property set, Content Manager OnDemand calculates the size of the field using the Start and End Column values. When you specify the start column, include blank columns, where appropriate. For example, you might want to include a blank column before the first column of significant data in the field. That way, Content Manager OnDemand can display the fields separated with blank spaces.
End Column
The column number in the input data at which point Content Manager OnDemand locates the end of the field. For logical views that have Lock Fields property set, Content Manager OnDemand calculates the size of the field using the Start and End Column values. When you specify the end column, include blank columns, where appropriate. For example, you might want to include a blank column after the last column of significant data in the field. That way, Content Manager OnDemand can display the fields separated with blank spaces.
Field#
The number of the logical view field. Content Manager OnDemand assigns a number to each logical view field that you define. You can use the Field# values on the Logical Views page, to specify the order in which the fields should appear when the user views a document using the logical view.
Fields
The list of logical view fields defined for the application. When you define a field and click Add, Content Manager OnDemand places the name of the field in the Fields list. To delete a defined logical view field, first select the name in the Fields list and then click Remove. To make changes to a defined logical view field, first select the name in the Fields list and then make changes in the Field Definitions area.
