Use to add an image overlay file to the application.
An image overlay file can be used to place additional information on a document when users send documents to a local printer. The additional information from the image overlay file is merged with the document before the document is sent to the printer.
For example, suppose you want to make sure that the word COPY appears on all documents sent to a local printer. First, create the image overlay file. An image overlay file is a monochrome, device independent bitmap stored in a file with a file type of BMP. Next, build a DLL file that includes the BMP file. Store the DLL file on the server. Then add the image overlay file to the application by specifying an identifier (the name of the bitmap resource in the DLL file) and the full path name of the DLL file on the server. After you add the image overlay file to the application, users can print the additional information on a document by selecting the identifier when they send a document to a local printer.
The identifier must be unique to the application and can be a maximum of 50 bytes. The image overlay file name can be a maximum of 255 bytes.
Note: When you add an image overlay file to an application, users must select the image overlay file before sending a document to a local printer.
See Creating image overlays for more information about creating image overlay files.
Here are available options:
- Identifier
- The name of the image overlay being added to the application. Must be the same as the name of the bitmap resource in the DLL file. The identifier must be unique to the application and can be a maximum of fifty characters.
- File Name
- The full path name of the DLL file that contains the image overlay bitmap being added to the application. Type the full path name of the DLL file on the server. The full path name of the DLL file can be a maximum of 255 bytes. When you add an image overlay file on an IBM® i server, the value that you specify must include the fully-qualified integrated file system (IFS) directory name. For example: /QIBM/UserData/OnDemand/Overlay/copy.dll
- Use application group value
- Select to use the application group's life of data and indexes value.
- Expire in ____ Days
- Enter a value. This value is used instead of the application group's life of data and indexes value.
Here are available commands:
- Add
- Use to add an image overlay to the application. An image overlay consists of an identifier and a file name. To add an image overlay, type the identifier and the full path name of the image overlay file on the server in the spaces provided. Then click Add. An identifier can be a maximum of 50 bytes and must be unique to the application. The full path name of the image overlay file can be a maximum of 255 bytes.
- Remove
- Use to remove the selected image overlay item from the application.
- OK
- Use to save your changes and close the Image Overlay Files window.
- Cancel
- Use to discard your changes and close the Image Overlay Files window.
- Help
- Use to open the online help for the Image Overlay Files window.
