ACIF (indexer)

Convert and index the input data using AFP Conversion and Indexing Facility (ACIF). To use ACIF, the Data Type on the View Information page must be AFP or Line and the source data must be AFP or line data. To specify the parameters used by ACIF to process the data, under Parameters Source, click Manually modify indexing parameters or Read parameters from a file. You can also use the graphical indexer to specify the indexer parameters. To use the graphical indexer, under Parameters Source, select Modify with sample data.

Important: To define a trigger or field parameter that contains DBCS data, the shift-out character that precedes the DBCS data and the shift-in character that follows the DBCS data must be selected in addition to the DBCS data. If the selected string does not contain both characters, the trigger and field toolbar buttons and menu items will not be active. A trigger parameter can be defined by selecting only the shift-out character. A trigger parameter can also be defined by selecting only the shift-in character. The SOSI characters are represented by special graphic characters so that they can be easily identified. The graphic character for the shift-out character looks similar to a blue right arrow with a green background and the shift-in character looks similar to a blue left arrow with a green background.
