Notes

  1. When you stop the server process, all users who are connected over the network to the Content Manager OnDemand system are disconnected. Therefore, it is a good idea to warn connected users before stopping the server process.
  2. The ARSSOCKD STOP command is for UNIX servers only. For Windows servers, the server process runs as a service. The service can be stopped by using the Services administrative tool in Windows or the Content Manager OnDemand configurator program.
  3. In the temp directory of your system, there is a file named .instance_name.pid, for example, .ARCHIVE.pid. This file contains the process ID of the service that needs to be stopped. If this file is deleted, the arssockd stop command will not succeed. The .instance_name.pid is hidden, but sometimes might be deleted by temp directory cleanup tools.
