External cache

When you use Content Manager OnDemand to manage data stored in the application group, you can enable an external cache. An external cache allows you to store index data in the database, but not load the report data (indexed groups and resources) into the application group. The report data remains on storage outside the control of, but accessible to Content Manager OnDemand. To retrieve the report data from within Content Manager OnDemand, you must supply a user exit program.

There are very few applications of external cache. If you think you need to implement external cache, IBM recommends that you first contact IBM Support and speak with an Content Manager OnDemand representative.
