Defining the storage configuration
Before you begin loading reports on the system, you need to determine the amount of storage required to hold the report data.
About this task
You should also determine how long the system should maintain a report, on what type of media a report should be stored, and any other business, legal or operational requirements for storing and maintaining data.
After collecting the storage requirements, you configure storage devices on the system and define those devices to Content Manager OnDemand. For example, you define a disk pool to the IBM® i server. Then the Content Manager OnDemand administrator defines storage management policies, using the information that you collected about the reports that you plan to maintain on the system. For example, the policy information includes the length of time that Content Manager OnDemand should keep the data that it manages.
When you load a report into the system, you identify an application group. The application group identifies a storage set. The storage set points to a migration policy, where you define different storage media levels, and indicate whether you want to use aggregation or tape backup.
