Savings Plans
Apptio Cloudability helps you manage and optimize your Savings Plans in concert with Reserved Instances. The following information outlines capabilities that will help you begin incorporating Savings Plans into your cloud financial optimization strategy.
Use Case
Users can view Savings Plan purchase recommendations based on maximizing their current investment in convertible Reserved Instances in conjunction with Savings Plan purchase recommendations. Moving forward, Savings Plans represent significant advantages of Reserved Instances in ease of management. However, organizations still own Reserved Instances, or may still wish to purchase some Reserved Instances for process or accounting reasons. These Reserved Instances represent significant financial assets, whose value should be optimized and taken full advantage of.
The unique Cloudability recommendation engine takes users preferences for things like usage, minimum utilization, minimum savings, payment model and term to create a combined plan, in real time, for modifying, exchanging and purchasing commitments (Reserved Instances and Savings Plans) with the lowest upfront cost, greatest savings and fewest number of actions to achieve the desired result. These settings are not simply filters but fundamentally recast the mix of recommended actions in the overall plan by changing which reserved instances are available for modification or exchange.
