Enhancements
  • Enhanced reconciliation to ensure that IMS resources' statuses on OCP and z/OS® are synchronized.
  • Users now can overwrite default values when they provision an IMS system.
  • Improved detection of duplicate IMSplex systems.
  • Reduced overall provisioning elapsed time
  • In case of a normal start failure, a warm or cold start is automatically attempted for IMS.
  • Segregated variables for IMS and z/OS into separate files
  • Playbook errors are now captured and visible in Conditions messages.
  • Updated dependencies on IBM® Wazi Sandbox 2.6 and IBM Extended z/OS ADCD for Z Development and Test Environment built upon the general release of ADCD z/OS V2R5 March Edition of 2023.
  • ODBM and IMS Connect now run as tasks at startup instead of jobs, which frees up Initiators.
Known issues and limitations
  • This version of IMS Operator Collection only works against IBM Wazi Sandbox 2.6 or IBM Extended z/OS ADCD for Z Development and Test Environment built upon the general release of ADCD z/OS V2R5 March Edition of 2023 or later.
  • No issue with JES2 initiators with this version of the IMS Operator Collection.

In this release, we have open sourced the IMS Operator Collection. By providing open source code, we encourage users to dive deep into understanding and actively participate in the development process.

  • Open-sourcing the IMS Operator Collection: Users can now view the source code of the collection. Download the tarball from Ansible® Galaxy or from IBM IMS Operator Collection: GitHub repository.
  • License change: The IMS Operator Collection is now licensed under Apache 2.0.

Known issues and limitations

Currently IMS Operator Collection only work against IBM Wazi Sandbox 2.4 or IBM Extended z/OS ADCD for Z Development and Test Environment built upon the general release of ADCD z/OS V2R5 December Edition of 2022 or later.

IBM Wazi Sandbox 2.4 or Extended ADCD comes with 12 JES2 initiators. If these 12 initiators are held by long running tasks, some jobs submitted by the IMS Operator are not executed. For more information, see Common issues.
