Backup and restore

The license usage data that is collected by the License Service is stored in the persistent cluster memory and is not affected when you delete or restart a pod.

However, it is a good practice to generate an audit snapshot periodically for backup purposes and to store the snapshot in a safe location. You do not need to perform any other backup. For more information about audit snapshot, see Audit snapshot.

You might also need to take a snapshot before you perform some tasks, such as upgrading the service or decommissioning a cluster. The snapshot that you take records the license usage of the products that are deployed on your cluster until the day of upgrade or decommissioning.

As the audit snapshot is just a record of license usage, you do not need to restore the data from the snapshot.
