Managing licensing and usage
On the Licensing & usage management page, you can switch applications and services on or off to comply with your license.
Before you begin
Understand how your license works. For more information, see License options.
Configure your license. For more information, see Configuring your license.
You must have the appropriate access to see the Licensing & usage management page in IBM Security QRadar Suite Software. For more information, see User access, roles, and permissions.
About this task
You can switch individual applications or services on or off based on your QRadar Suite Software purchase and license details. On the Licensing & usage page, you can restrict usage to the applications based on your organization's purchase. Only the chargeable applications for which you are licensed contribute to your total resource unit usage.
With the appropriate administration permission, you can manage access to applications for an account. If access to an application is granted to the account, the application is listed in the console menu by default. If access to an application is not granted to the account, the users within the account do not have access and cannot see the application in the menu. When an account is disabled, all users of the account lose access to the application, but the associated data is retained.
If you have administration permission to manage users, you can access the Manage users page to control individual user access to each application.
- Applications that integrate with other applications hide the integration when the corresponding application is not enabled.
- An application is automatically disabled and then enabled when a prerequisite application is disabled and then enabled. For example, User Behavior Analytics cannot be enabled unless QRadar Proxy is enabled.
Procedure
Results
- Enabled: Any user of the account that is granted permission through the Manage users page can see the application on the menu and have access to it.
- Disabled: All users of the account lose access to the application, but the associated data is retained.
When you enable a chargeable app, it adds to your total resource unit usage. The license configuration bar displays the total number of resource units that you configured from your license limit compared to the total number of resource units currently in use in QRadar Suite Software for this account.
What to do next
You are required to keep a record of the size of deployments to report to IBM as requested. For
more information about how to create and view audit snapshot license reports, see Audit snapshot .
You can deploy and configure License Service Reporter on your cluster and use it as an aggregator
to view the collective usage over of QRadar Suite Software deployed on one or more clusters. QRadar Suite Software automatically sends the license resource usage information to the License Service of IBM Cloud Pak® foundational services. For more
information, see Deploying License Service Reporter
.
