Configuring multifactor authentication for IBMid

You can configure multifactor authentication (MFA) for your IBMid that is connected to your IBM Security QRadar® Suite Software account.

Enabling MFA

Enabling MFA does not affect users that are already logged in. MFA takes effect only at new logins.

Procedure

  1. Go to Authentication > OAuth > IBMid.
  2. Select the Require multifactor authentication checkbox, and then click Save.
The second factor can be delivered in either of the following methods:
    • By default, users receive a verification code in their IBMid email account.
    • Users can use an authenticator app to receive a verification code for their IBMid account. For more information, see Configuring an authenticator application.

Results

When enabled, users who enter their IBMid credentials (the first method) see a page that requires them to enter a verification code (the second method).

Configuring an authenticator application

Users who prefer to use an authenticator app can configure MFA in their IBMid account.

Procedure

  1. Log in to www.ibm.com with your IBMid credentials.
  2. For more configuration guidance, click Profile > ID and password > TOTP.
  3. Download the authenticator app of your choice to your smartphone or tablet.
For example, IBM Verify or Google Authenticator.

Results

On your next login attempt, you receive the second-factor authentication request to your authenticator app.
