Apps

Use the Apps tab to download, install, and configure apps and their associated Edge Gateway. If you do not see the Apps tab, you do not have the permission set in your role.

An app is a collection of playbook components, code executables or both that represent an end-to-end function and is deployed to the IBM Security Orchestration & Automation application. You can download and install apps from the IBM Security App Exchange, or install an app developed by a team in your organization.

An Orchestration & Automation app is available in two formats, one format supports the App Host Kubernetes-based container environments, the other supports the previously available extension format which requires an integration server. You can install only container-based apps using the Apps tab.

An Edge Gateway is a Kubernetes-based container deployment environment that hosts app containers. An Edge Gateway is paired to only one IBM Security QRadar Suite. However, a single IBM Security QRadar Suite account can be paired to multiple Edge Gateways to help organize apps or access different network zones.

If you have the Apps permission, you can click on the Apps tab to view any installed apps. In the following example, there are three apps installed. The Need an App? icon is a link to the IBM Security App Exchange, where you can access additional apps.

Click an app icon to display information specific to the app. The Details tab provides information about the app, including its name, author, the version of the platform used to develop the app (called Compatibility), installation date, description, version of the app and its status. If an app has not yet been deployed, the status indicates the next step to complete. You can access this tab by clicking on the app icon, or selecting Details from the app menu.

If you have problems with an app, you can use Undeploy to remove the app from the App Host and then reinstall it when the problem is resolved. Similarly, you can use Restart to reinitialize the app.

The Customizations tab provides the app's status, a link to the app's API key account, and a list of the playbook components that were installed with the app. You can click each component to go directly to that components page.

The Configuration tab provides a list of the configuration files for the app, as described in Configuring apps.
