Creating connections between AWS regions

Create connections between AWS regions if you want workloads to be able to communicate across regions via global subnets.

Before you begin

Ensure that you created at least one gateway (that is, primary) VPC in an least two regions. For more information, see Creating a VPC or VNet.
Note: After you connect two regions, if you create a workload (that is, secondary) VPC in one region, that VPC cannot communicate with VPCs in the other region. To resolve this issue, disconnect and reconnect the regions.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Wired portal.
  2. Click the AWS cloud account where you want to create connections.
  3. Click Manage connectivity.
  4. Select Connectivity across regions.
  5. Select the two regions that you want to connect.
  6. Click Create Connection.

Results

In the Interconnected regions section of the AWS Virtual private clouds page, the connection has a Connected status.
