Creating assembly instances

Create an assembly instance when you need to deploy a new service that is described in an assembly descriptor.

Before you begin

Before you deploy an assembly instance in a production environment, make sure that any resources and test assemblies that are included in the assembly descriptor are available in the Designer tool.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the IBM Cloud Pak® console. For more information about how to log in, see Logging in to the IBM Cloud Pak console.
  2. From the navigation menu Navigation menu icon, click Run > Assembly instance.
The assembly instances are sorted in order of the mostly recently updated instances. Click the Refresh icon Refresh icon to refresh the list of assembly instances.
  3. Click Create.
  4. Enter details for the assembly instance in the Descriptor page, then click Next.
    Field Description
Name The name of the new assembly instance.
Descriptor The assembly descriptor on which you want to base the new instance.
Intended Lifecycle State The state that you want the assembly instance to be in after the execution plan is completed.
Object group The object group for the assembly instance.
  5. Enter details of the properties for the assembly instance in the Properties page, then click Next.
  6. Review the summary of the assembly details and properties, then click Create.

Results

The assembly instance is listed in the Recent Assembly Instances page. You can watch while the Daytona intent engine runs the execution plan and the instance moves into its intended state. To watch the execution, click the overflow menu Horizontal overflow menu icon for the assembly instance, then click Open Execution.
