Creating and modifying object groups

When you create or modify an object group, you can also assign user groups and permissions to the object group. You must have administrator permissions to create or modify object groups, that is, you must have the OBJECTGROUP_WRITE permission.

Before you begin

Before you can create an object group, you must create the user groups that allow the user types the access they require. For more information about creating user groups, see Configure your users' access control permissions.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the IBM Cloud Pak® console. For more information about how to log in, see Logging in to the IBM Cloud Pak console.
  2. From the navigation menu Navigation menu icon, click Define > Network automation object groups.
  3. Click Create object group and specify the details of the object group that you want to create.
    1. Enter the name and description for the new object group, and click Next.
    2. Select the user groups that you want to assign to the new object group, and click Next.
    3. Review the summary of the object group details that you entered, and click Create.
  4. Optional: Click the Refresh icon Refresh icon to refresh the list of object groups.

Results

The object group is created and the selected user groups are assigned to the object group. Users that belong to the object group can access only the objects that the user group has permissions to access.

What to do next

To update an object group, click the object group's name. You can also search for the object group by name or description.

To delete an object group, click the overflow menu Vertical overflow menu icon next to the object group, then click Delete object group.

Restrictions:
  • When you search for an object group, matches from only the current page are found. If you have multiple pages of object groups, repeat the search on the other pages.
  • You can delete an object group only if the group contains no objects. That is, the group cannot contain any assemblies, deployment locations, infrastructure keys, network packages, or secret groups.
