Scheduling a backup by using the console

Schedule a backup of the orchestration data or application logging data to run at regular intervals. You can schedule backups from the OpenShift® Container Platform cluster console. You specify the schedule in the cron format.

Procedure

  1. Log in to your Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform cluster console.
  2. From the navigation menu, click Operators > Installed Operators.
  3. From the list of installed operators, click IBM® Cloud Pak for Network Automation Orchestration Manager.
  4. Click the Orchestration Backups tab.
  5. Click Create OrchestrationBackup.
  6. Click Schedule Backups.
  7. Enter a schedule for the backup in the cron format. For more information about schedules in cron format, see Cron format schedules.
  8. Optional: To pause the scheduled backups, click Pause Schedule.
  9. Optional: To run a backup immediately after the schedule is created, click Run Backup Immediately.
  10. Indicate the backup type.
    • For application logging data backups, in the type field, enter Opensearch.
    • For orchestration data backups, leave the type field empty, or enter Backup.
Restriction: In active-active configurations of IBM Cloud Pak for Network Automation, orchestration data is replicated across clusters, but application logging data is not. As a result, each application logging data backup contains only the logging data from the cluster where you created the backup.

To back up application logging data for all clusters in your active-active configuration, create a backup on each cluster.

  11. Click Create.

Results

The backup process starts. To check the status of the backup, go to the Orchestration Backups tab in the console. Click the instance name. If the status in the Conditions is True, the status of the backup is good.

Run the following command to check whether backups are being created according to the specified schedule:

oc get backup
