Monitoring Agent for VMware VI metrics
The metrics for Monitoring Agent for VMware VI resource types collect data for monitoring with IBM Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management. Every Monitoring Agent for VMware VI resource type defines a set of dimensions and metrics. The descriptions provide such information as data type, dimension key, and metric unit.
Resource vmCluster
This attribute group contains metrics that describe the configuration and performance of a cluster. The following section lists the metrics, dimensions and components of Resource vmCluster.
Metrics
The following metrics are available for the resource.
CPU Utilization
- The total number of CPU resources being used by the member servers divided by the total CPU of the cluster, excluding any members in maintenance mode.
- The type is double.
- The unit is resources.
Datastores Total Free Space (MB)
- The total free space of all data stores connected to this cluster in MB.
- The type is int.
- The unit is megabytes.
Datastores Total Space (MB)
- The total space of all data stores connected to this cluster in MB.
- The type is int.
- The unit is megabytes.
Effective CPU (GHz_
- The amount of CPU in GHz that is available to run virtual machines.This is an aggregation from all servers that are running normally.The amount of CPU used by the service consoles on each server is not included in the total. This is not available in the UI by default. It can be made available through dynamic configuration.

- The unit is gigahertz.
Effective Memory
- The amount of memory in GB that is available to run virtual machines. This is not available in the UI by default. It can be made available through dynamic configuration.
- The type is double.
- The unit is gigabytes.
Effective Servers
- The number of ESX servers that are available to run virtual machines.Hosts that are unresponsive or in VMware maintenance mode are not counted. This is not available in the UI by default. It can be made available through dynamic configuration.
- The type is int.

Memory Utilization
- The total amount of memory resources being used by the member servers divided by the total memory of the cluster, excluding any members in maintenance mode.
- The type is double.
- The unit is megabytes.
Number vMotions
- The total number of migrations that have occurred within this cluster. This is not available in the UI by default. It can be made available through dynamic configuration.
- The type is int.
- The unit is migrations.
Percent Datastore Usage
- The percentage of datastore used by the cluster.
- The type is double.
- The unit is percent.
Percent Effective CPU
- The percentage of CPU for the cluster that is available to run virtual machines.
- The type is int.
- The unit is percent.
Percent Effective Memory
- The percentage of memory for the cluster that is available to run virtual machines. This is not available in the UI by default. It can be made available through dynamic configuration.
- The type is int.
- The unit is percent.
Percent Effective Servers
- The percentage of servers defined to the cluster that are available to run virtual machines.
- The type is int.
- The unit is percent.
Physical NICs
- The total number of physical network interface cards in the cluster. This is not available in the UI by default. It can be made available through dynamic configuration.

Physical NICs Down
- The total number of physical network interface cards in the cluster with a link status of down. This is not available in the UI by default. It can be made available through dynamic configuration.

- The number of virtual machines that are configured within this cluster that are powered on. This is not available in the UI by default. It can be made available through dynamic configuration.

Clustered VM CPU Utilization
- The overall CPU usage of this virtual machine during the collection interval. This metric is calculated by using the values of the actual used CPU and allocated CPU usage. Actual used CPU is based on the usage of the operating system and contribution of the ESX host. If the actual used CPU is greater than the allocated CPU usage, then the percentage CPU utilization exceeds 100%.

- The overall active usage of the guest memory of this virtual machine during the collection interval.This value is calculated as the percentage of active guest memory that is utilized out of the configured memory size of the virtual machine.
