What's new in IBM Cloud Pak for Integration 2022.4.1

New features

Cloud Pak for Integration version 2022.4.1 adds the following enhancements and new capabilities:

  • On premises Instana® observability with limited entitlement

    Customers making an initial purchase of Cloud Pak for Integration, or a purchase of additional capacity, now have entitlement to a limited set of Instana observability functions for a 6-month period, for on-premises deployments, only. Instana monitoring and tracing are available for Cloud Pak for Integration capabilities that are deployed in Cloud Pak for Integration, as well as capabilities in stand-alone deployments (so for example, the messaging capability in Cloud Pak for Integration, as well as an instance of IBM MQ deployed separately on a virtual machine).     • Instana monitoring is currently supported for the following capabilities: integration runtimes (IBM App Connect Enterprise), Kafka clusters (IBM Event Streams), messaging (IBM MQ), and gateway (IBM DataPower Gateway).
    • Instana tracing is currently supported for the following capabilities: integration runtimes (IBM App Connect Enterprise), and messaging (IBM MQ).

  • Simplified deployment and management with an integration assembly

    Using the integration assembly capability allows you to deploy multiple instances of the messaging and Event Streams capabilities by using a single configuration file. The file contains built-in configuration defaults. You only need to specify storage and licensing information once for a given capability, such as messaging. Enjoy easier debugging and status reporting.

  • IBM Spectrum Fusion entitlement

    Beginning with the release of version 2022.4.1, if you do not already have an IBM Spectrum Fusion entitlement, you can get access to the trial version of IBM Spectrum Fusion (IBM Spectrum Fusion Starter). It is available at zero cost, for 12 months, and includes 6 TB Primary Storage and OpenShift Data Foundation Essentials. For more information, see Licensing.

  • Fast, secure transfers with IBM® Aspera® Proxy Gateway

    Aspera Proxy Gateway offers secure, high-speed transfers without requiring installation of Aspera software at transfer endpoints or additional license entitlement.

  • Guided upgrade experience

    The Platform UI now provides a guided upgrade experience that is customized for your installation.

  • Fully-managed solution for Cloud Pak for Integration on AWS

    This IBM Expert Labs offering also provides patches, upgrades, and 24/7 support and monitoring. You can bring your own software license.

Product changes

Deprecation of integration tracing (Operations Dashboard)

Effective with IBM Cloud Pak for Integration 2022.4.1, the integration tracing capability (Cloud Pak for Integration Operations Dashboard) is deprecated. This capability will be removed in a future release. No further updates will be provided. No new uses of the Cloud Pak for Integration Operations Dashboard should be implemented.

Users who want to implement tracing should use Instana observability, as described in the "New features" section. For more information, see Enabling IBM Instana monitoring.

Documentation updates

This release includes a number of improvements to the Cloud Pak for Integration documentation:
  • An updated versions compatibility matrix that provides version compatibility for instances, as well as and Red Hat OpenShift and Cloud Pak foundational services. For more information, see Operator channel versions for this release.
  • A major revision of the content on mirroring images for an air-gapped cluster, to reflect new commands and a streamlining of the overall process. For more information, see Mirroring images for an air-gapped cluster.
  • Improved clarify of upgrading procedures, based on internal user testing.
  • Expanded and reorganized troubleshooting information.
