Installation options
A IBM Cloud Pak® for Integration installation consists of a Red Hat OpenShift cluster with one or more Cloud Pak for Integration operators installed and one or more Cloud Pak for Integration capabilities deployed.
The main stages for a successful installation of Cloud Pak for Integration are:
Prepare a suitable Red Hat OpenShift cluster with suitable storage.
Make the operators available to the cluster.
Install the operators using the Operator Hub and Operator Lifecycle Manager.
Provide access to capability images.
Deploy instances using the operators.
There are a variety of paths available to achieve the preceding list of steps, which are suitable for different use cases:
Do you intend to install the operators yourself?
Are you looking for an automated installation solution?
You intend to install the operators yourself
This is the process described in the guide you are using right now. To install Cloud Pak for Integration manually, you must first provide a Red Hat OpenShift cluster. See Operating environment for more information about cluster installation options.
With a suitable Red Hat OpenShift cluster available, you can manually install the Cloud Pak for Integration operators by:
- Creating the product catalog sources
The catalog sources provide certified operators for IBM products that can be deployed using the Red Hat OpenShift Operator Hub.
- Mirroring images for restricted network environments
When your cluster does not have internet access, you can mirror Cloud Pak for Integration images to a private registry within the restricted network environment. When this has been complete, you can deploy using the Red Hat OpenShift Operator Hub.
See Overview – Installation for more details on this installation option.
You need an automated installation solution
Automated installation options perform some or all of the installation steps for you.
- IBM Cloud Catalog
The IBM Cloud Catalog can be used to deploy Cloud Pak for Integration to a Red Hat OpenShift on an IBM Cloud cluster. The deployment automatically adds the catalog sources to the cluster, deploys the Cloud Pak for Integration operators using the Red Hat OpenShift Operator Lifecycle Manager, and deploys IBM Cloud Pak Platform UI.
See Getting Started with Cloud Pak for Integration in the IBM Cloud® documentation and Supported options on IBM Cloud for specific environment details.
- Red Hat Marketplace
The Red Hat Marketplace can be used to deploy Cloud Pak for Integration to any Red Hat OpenShift cluster connected to the Red Hat Marketplace. The deployment automatically adds the catalog sources to the cluster and deploys the Cloud Pak for Integration operators using the Red Hat OpenShift Operation Lifecycle Manager. You then need to deploy Cloud Pak for Integration instances such as the Cloud Pak for Integration instance. See Deploying the Platform UI using the OpenShift console.
See Clusters in the Red Hat Marketplace documentation for how to register your cluster.
See IBM Cloud Pak for Integration in the Red Hat Marketplace.
- AWS Quick Start
The AWS Quick Start for Cloud Pak for Integration can be used to deploy Cloud Pak for Integration to any AWS account. The deployment creates a new Red Hat OpenShift cluster, adds the catalog sources to the cluster, deploys the Cloud Pak for Integration operators using the Red Hat OpenShift Operator Lifecycle Manager, and deploys IBM Cloud Pak Platform UI.
The AWS Quick Start for Cloud Pak for Integration provides the option to deploy either in a single availability zone or across multiple availability zones in your chosen AWS region.
See IBM Cloud Pak for Integration on AWS in the AWS Quick Starts catalog and Supported options on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for specific environment details.
