Deploying capabilities and runtimes

Deploying active instances of capabilities and runtimes in Cloud Pak for Integration allows you to use them as part of IBM Cloud Pak® for Integration.

Note: Before a capability or runtime can be deployed, its operator must already be installed. For more information, see Installing the operators using the Openshift console.

A user with the role Integration Specialist can deploy capabilities and runtimes from the Cloud Pak for Integration instance (IBM Automation).

Capabilities provide tools for designing and managing some types of integration instances. API management, Event endpoint management, Integration dashboard, Integration design, Integration tracing, and Automation assets are all capabilities.

Create capabilities

Runtimes are the runtime components of your integration solution. High speed transfer server, Event streams, Gateway, and Messaging are all runtimes.

Create instances

Note: You should install the operators in the same namespace (project) where the Platform Navigator operator is installed.

After a capability or runtime is deployed, it appears in a table of available resources for "Integration capabilities" or "Integration runtimes" (see below). To access these tables, log in to the IBM Automation home page and in the left-side menu, click Administration, then click Integration capabilities or Integration runtimes.
