Operating environment

IBM Cloud Pak® for Integration requires a supported operating environment for installation.

Included environments

The following describes the supported operating environment for IBM Cloud Pak for Integration release 16.2.0:

Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform
  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform version 4.14, 4.16, 4.18, 4.19, 4.20, or 4.21 * only.

  • IBM Cloud Pak foundational services version 4.19 only.
Important: Usage of Cloud Pak foundational services has changed in this release. Only install Cloud Pak foundational services if you need to install an API Connect cluster or an API Manager instance. Otherwise, Cloud Pak foundational services is no longer required.
Azure Kubernetes Service
  • AKS versions 1.31 and 1.32 only

  • For more information see the "Supported Kubernetes distributions for operators" section that follows.

  • For more information on supported architectures, see the "Supported architectures for operators" section that follows.

  • Multi-zone and single-zone deployments, where appropriate storage providers are available to support that deployment model

Note: IBM Cloud Pak for Integration does not have a specific SDN requirement, and uses the customer's chosen option.

OpenShift cluster examples

Cloud Pak for Integration runs on any OpenShift environment. This includes, but is not limited to, the following cluster types:

An OpenShift cluster that is deployed manually by using Installer Provisioned Infrastructure or User Provisioned Infrastructure

This can include either of the following:

  • Manual deployments on a cloud provider, such as IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. For storage requirements, see the Red Hat documentation for the applicable cloud provider.

  • Other deployments, including on-premise. For information on storage requirements, see Storage considerations.

A single-node OpenShift cluster

For more information, see Installing on a single node OpenShift (SNO) cluster.

An OpenShift cluster that uses Red Hat OpenShift hosted control planes

This type of cluster can include, but is not limited to, Red Hat® OpenShift® Service on AWS (ROSA) with hosted control planes.

A managed OpenShift cluster from a cloud provider, such as IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

For more information, see the following:

Excluded environments

Cloud Pak for Integration does not support installing on an OpenShift cluster with multi-architecture compute machines.
