Comparing scenarios in a Decision Optimization experiment
You can compare and visualize differences and similarities between two scenarios for any type of model in a Decision Optimization experiment. This comparison helps you understand how different model formulations, data, and parameters impact your optimization results.
About this task
When you compare scenarios, you can identify differences between both models and the data at the same time. The comparison displays scenarios side by side with visual indicators that highlight the differences in the input data, model, solution, or log files.
Procedure
To compare two scenarios:
- From one scenario, in either the scenario pane or the Overview tab, click the three dots on the first scenario that you want to compare. Select Compare with.
-
In the window that opens, select another scenario from the Select scenario menu to
compare with the first scenario.
The comparison view opens, displaying the selected scenarios side by side. Visual indicators show where the scenarios differ in their general information, data, model, solutions, and log files.
Results

The scenarios are displayed side by side with differences highlighted. You can also toggle to view only the differences or drill down in a particular row to view the different values by clicking View differences in the row. You can use this comparison to:
- Identify which values or files vary between scenarios
- Understand the impact of different data, model formulations, or settings on optimization results
- Make informed decisions about which scenario best meets your requirements
