Setting up alerts

You can enable alerts from the monitoring profile of database connections.

Procedure

To configure alerts:

  1. Access the console.
  2. In the Databases page, click the connection that you want to work on.
  3. From the navigation menu, go to Settings > Monitoring profile.
    The Monitoring profile page displays.
  4. Click Alerts settings.
  5. Expand the Availability and Performance alert types, and click the checkbox to activate the alert that you want to use. These alerts include:
    • Availability
      • Physical memory in use
      • Virtual memory in use
      • Incomplete recovery
      • Database availability
      • File system utilization
      • Database partition availability (For partitioned databases only)
    • Performance
      • Connections
      • Table deadlock occurred
      • CPU time
      • Rows read
      • Rows returned
      • Statement performance
      • Total activity time
After selecting the alerts, you can configure thresholds for each alert to further refine how and when alerts are generated.
  6. Hover over the cell that aligns with the alert you want to configure and click Configure alert.
A dialog-box opens, with options for setting thresholds for information, warning, and critical alert types. You can also set the number of occurrences and number of collection intervals for an alert before it is triggered.
Note: Not all alert thresholds are configurable, some alerts use fixed threshold. To trigger an alert for consecutive occurrences, you can specify the same value for both Number of occurrences and Number of collection fields.
  7. To set your alert options, click OK.
  8. Click Save to save your selections to your monitoring profile.
    Note:

For "Table deadlock occurred" alert, you need to enable data collection. Go to Settings > Event monitor profile > Locking and make sure that the locking status is "Enabled". Locking event monitor is disabled by default.

For "Statement performance" alert, you need to enable historical data persistence. Go to Settings > Monitoring profile > Monitor settings, and make sure "persistence" is "ON". Historical data persistence is ON by default.
