Assigning roles to groups in Data Virtualization

IBM Cloud Pak for Data groups that need to use Data Virtualization functions must be assigned specific Data Virtualization roles based on their job description.

About this task

You must be a Data Virtualization Admin to assign a Data Virtualization role to an existing Cloud Pak for Data group. Ensure you review group naming rules, see User, user ID and group naming rules.

Procedure

  1. On the navigation menu, click Data > Data virtualization to reveal the service menu.
  2. On the service menu, click Administration > User management.
    The User management page appears.
  3. On the User management page, select the User groups tab.
  4. Click Grant access to assign Data Virtualization roles to Cloud Pak for Data groups.
    The list of users in the Grant access to users dialog box includes groups, which are indicated by a group icon. You can see the list of users that are currently within each group by clicking >.
  5. Select the checkbox for the group that you want to assign a Data Virtualization role.
  6. Click the down arrow for the group and select a Data Virtualization role from the list.
  7. Click Add.
