Managing replication jobs

You can view and update the state of your Data Replication service instance and assets.

Pausing and stopping data replication

You can pause and stop your replication at any time, but note that stopping your replication releases the supplemental logging on source database tables as well as any other resources required for replication while the replication job is active. Restarting the job re-allocates all required objects and enables supplemental logging on the database tables, as well as re-synchronizes the data, before only replicating data that changed.

Pausing a replication job
To temporarily stop your replication job, click the Pause icon Pause replication after clicking on your project's Data Replication asset. Pausing your replication acts as a bookmark, allowing you to resume the replication job at the stage it was last left.
Stopping a replication job
If you choose to completely stop your Data Replication by clicking the Stop icon Stop replication, it releases the supplemental logging on source database tables as well as any other resources required for replication while the replication job is active.
In addition, you can click the the Force stop button to forcefully terminate replication jobs that are stuck in the Stopping or Cancelling states. Jobs stuck in these transitional states might block new replication jobs. The force stop capability cleans up replication-related system resources.
  • For a Data Replication asset that uses PostgreSQL as a source connection, the PostgreSQL replication slots for the asset are deleted automatically.
  • For a Data Replication asset that uses Oracle XStream as a source connection, the Oracle XStream Capture and Outbound servers for the asset is deleted automatically. Stopping and then starting your replication is the same as setting up a new Data Replication asset. Click the stop button after clicking your project's Data Replication asset.

Deleting your data

To delete your data within the service instance, delete the Data Replication assets from your projects and catalogs. Before you can delete a Data Replication asset, you must stop the Data Replication job.

To remove an asset, use one of these methods:

  • On the asset's Details page, click the Delete replication icon.
  • On the project's Assets page, click Delete from the Options menu next to the asset.
  • On the catalog's Browse assets page, click Remove from the Options menu next to the asset.
