Differences between IBM Knowledge Catalog editions

IBM Knowledge Catalog is available in three editions: IBM Knowledge Catalog, IBM Knowledge Catalog Standard, and IBM Knowledge Catalog Premium

Depending on the edition, IBM Knowledge Catalog includes different capabilities:

Remember:

If you are using the IBM Knowledge Catalog Standard service, you do not have access to rule enforcement and protection of data features. You can see these features and tasks in the user interface, functions, and documentation, but you cannot use them. Specifically, you cannot do any of the following tasks:

  • Create new data protection rules
  • Manage rule settings
  • Permanently enforce rules on governed catalogs
  • Configure protection solutions for data source definitions

To use these features and do these tasks, you need one of the following editions or platform offerings:

  • IBM Knowledge Catalog as included in your Cloud Pak for Data license
  • IBM Knowledge Catalog Premium
  • IBM watsonx
  • watsonx.data intelligence
