IBM Cloud Pak for Data Version 5.1.2
A new version of SPSS Modeler was released in March 2025.
This release includes the following changes:
- New features
- This release of SPSS Modeler includes the following features:
- Use API key authentication with SSL for IBM Db2 Warehouse
-
You can now use an API key to authenticate to IBM Db2 Warehouse when you are using SQL Pushback and SSL. API keys offer better security, and you can also use an API key to automatically authenticate from a script or application.
For more information about API keys, see Generating API keys for authentication.

IBM Cloud Pak for Data Version 5.1.1
A new version of SPSS Modeler was released in February 2025.
This release includes the following changes:
- New features
- This release of SPSS Modeler includes the following features:
- Use trusted sessions with your Teradata connector
-
You can now use trusted sessions for authenticating users with your Teradata connector. When you use a trusted session to create a connection for Teradata, a proxy user is set up and logged in as a trusted user. Other users can then access the connection through the logged-in proxy user. This approach can offer improved performance and scalability by eliminating the need to authenticate user identities and roles through individual logon sessions. User queries through the proxy user can also be logged, which increases traceability.
- Issues fixed in this release
- The following issues were fixed in this release:
- Flow parameters in SQL statements aren't working in Data Asset import nodes
-
- Issue: When SQL Pushback was turned off, flow parameters in SQL statements didn't work in Data Asset nodes. The data for the table did not load properly.
- Resolution: You can now turn off SQL Pushback, and flow parameters in SQL statements still work correctly.
- Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics did not support SQL Pushback with SDAP drivers
-
- Issue: You can use Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics with SQL Pushback, but you can't use SDAP drivers for the connector.
- Resolution: You can now use SDAP drivers with Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics and enable SQL Pushback.
- SQL Pushback doesn't work when SSL is enabled for a Db2 Warehouse database
-
- Issue: If you used custom SSL certificates for a connection to a Db2 Warehouse database, SQL Pushback was not running. No SQL Statements were captured in the Messages log even though SQL Pushback was activated in the Flow Properties.
- Resolution: You can now use SQL Pushback and custom SSL certificates for your Db2 Warehouse database. However, you must use username and password authentication. API Key authentication isn't currently supported.
- Customer-reported issues fixed in this release

IBM Cloud Pak for Data Version 5.1.0
A new version of SPSS Modeler was released in December 2024.
This release includes the following changes:
- New features
-
This release of SPSS Modeler includes the following features:
- Promote flows to deployment spaces
-
You can now directly promote SPSS Modeler flows from projects to deployment spaces without having to export the project and then import it into the deployment space.
For more information, see Promoting SPSS Modeler flows and models.
- Analyze Japanese text data in SPSS Modeler with Text Analytics
-
You can now use the Text Analytics nodes in SPSS Modeler to analyze text data that is written in Japanese. Text Analytics nodes use advanced linguistic technologies and text mining techniques to analyze text data and extract concepts, patterns, and categories.
For more information, see Text Analytics.
- Connect to new data sources with SPSS Modeler
-
You can now connect SPSS Modeler to the following new data sources for read and write access:
- Microsoft Azure Databricks
- Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics
For more information about all of the supported connectors, see Supported data sources for SPSS Modeler.
- Use Kerberos for Apache Impala
-
You can now use Kerberos for authentication with an Apache Impala connector. However, when you use Kerberos authentication, you cannot use SQL Pushback.
For more information about Apache Impala, see Apache Impala connection.
- Updates
- The following updates were introduced in this release:
- When you add a node by double-clicking it on the nodes palette, your view of the canvas shifts to the new node if it is added outside your view.
- If you import a stream file that has a long flow in it, the new flow now better matches the original layout for the flow in SPSS Modeler client.
