Working with Db2 Big SQL databases

The Db2 Big SQL service provides a dashboard for exploring the service instance. This dashboard is powered by IBM Db2 Data Management Console.

Before you begin

Before you use the Explore capabilities in Db2 Big SQL, ensure that the IBM Db2 Data Management Console service is installed. Any IBM® Software Hub user who is navigating the Db2 Data Management Console must hold the necessary permissions to complete actions.

About this task

Db2 Data Management Console is a browser-based console that helps you to explore your Db2 Big SQL service instance.

Procedure

  1. Click Explore to get an overview of object and user management items in Db2 Big SQL:
    • Objects: Database, tables (including Hadoop tables), and views
    • User management: Roles that have permissions to the objects in the service

  3. Open the menu and click Monitor > Statement to get performance data about queries that are running in Db2 Big SQL.

In the In-flight executions tab, you can see a list of the SQL statements that are currently running or that ran recently on Db2 Big SQL. You can use these metrics to identify costly or long running statements and force terminate your applications if they need to be stopped.
