Administering OpenPages

If you have the required permission, you can perform administrative tasks for OpenPages.

Some OpenPages features are not supported or are configured differently in OpenPages on Cloud Pak for Data. See also Known issues and limitations for OpenPages.

Service configuration

Database configuration

Administering an external database for OpenPages Cluster administrator Administer an external database that is outside of IBM Cloud Pak for Data.
Logging in to the database in Cloud Pak for Data Instance administrator Log in to your database from any application server pod. After you log in, you can run SQL commands by using CLPPlus.

Security

Resource management

Task Required permissions Details
Manually scaling resources for services Instance administrator Adjust OpenPages by scaling resources to support high availability or to increase processing capacity. Resources can be scaled based on predefined resource configurations.
Automatically scaling resources for services Instance administrator Enable autoscaling with the OpenShift® Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA). The HPA changes the resource allocation of services by increasing or decreasing the number of pods in response to CPU or memory consumption.
Shutting down and restarting services Instance administrator Manually shut down OpenPages to prevent it from using resources. You can restart the service when you need to use it again.
Scaling options for OpenPages instances Instance administrator Scale OpenPages by scaling the application server and the database server.
Starting and stopping application servers in OpenPages Instance administrator Restart all application server pods for OpenPages.

Backup and restore

Data migration

Using FastMap OpenPages administrator As a business user, use the FastMap user interface to import and export data.
The ObjectManager tool OpenPages administrator Use ObjectManager, a command-line tool for importing and exporting data. To install ObjectManager, see Installing tools and utilities for OpenPages.
Note: Only super administrators have full access to ObjectManager operations.
Migrating OpenPages environments OpenPages administrator If your organization has multiple OpenPages environments, you can migrate both the configuration information and the metadata from one environment to another. Migration means exporting from a source environment and importing into a target environment.
