High-availability
Data Gate uses IBM® Integrated Synchronization for the data synchronization. The synchronization function requires a permanent connection to both, the source database and the target database. The Data Gate instance is the mediator between the source and the target. If the instance is temporarily offline during the installation of an upgrade, the connection is interrupted, and the synchronization function ceases to work. Therefore, Data Gate cannot offer disruption-free upgrades. To minimize down-times caused by upgrades, a high-availability (HA) setup is recommended.
A HA setup for Data Gate requires additional resources:
- An additional, independent encrypted network connection to the Db2 for z/OS source database. See Configuring network access between Data Gate and IBM Z.
- An additional target database instance (Db2 or Db2 Warehouse). See Installing a Db2 instance for Data Gate on Cloud Pak for Data.
