Reauthorizing the instance administrator (Upgrading from Version 4.7 to Version 5.0)

If a user other than the cluster administrator will upgrade IBM Cloud Pak for Data, you must update the permissions on the projects that are associated with this instance of Cloud Pak for Data.

Who needs to complete this task?: Cluster administrator A cluster administrator must complete this task.

When do you need to complete this task?: Complete this task only if a user other than the cluster administrator will upgrade Cloud Pak for Data.
Repeat as needed If you have multiple instances of Cloud Pak for Data on the cluster, you must repeat this task for each instance that will be upgraded by an instance administrator.

About this task

Ensure that you use the same method that you initially used when you authorized the instance administrator.

If you originally gave the user the admin role and the cpd-instance-admin-apply-olm role, complete Reauthorizing an instance administrator with the admin role on projects (Upgrading from Version 4.7 to Version 5.0).
If you originally gave the user the minimum role-based access control (RBAC) to install an instance of Cloud Pak for Data, complete Reauthorizing an instance administrator with the minimum RBAC to upgrade components (Upgrading from Version 4.7 to Version 5.0).
