Creating a service instance for DataStage from the web client

When you install DataStage, a service instance is created automatically. You can optionally create more service instances in the operands project. If you are a Cloud Pak for Data user, you can use the web client to create service instances. The web client guides you through the process of creating service instances.

Who needs to complete this task?
To create a service instance from the web client, you must have the Create service instances permission in Cloud Pak for Data.
When do you need to complete this task?
Complete this task only if you want to create a service instance from the web client.
Alternative methods for creating a service instance

Before you begin

This task assumes that the following prerequisites are met:

Procedure

  1. Click Services > Instances in the main menu for IBM Cloud Pak for Data.
  2. Click New instance, then click the DataStage tile.
    The DataStage service page appears.
  3. Click New instance.
    The New service instance page appears.
  4. Complete the steps in the New service instance wizard and then click Create.
    To create an instance on a remote data plane, the operator must be deployed on the namespace of the associated physical location. For more information, see Deploying DataStage on a remote data plane.
    1. On the Instance details page, select Namespace to create a local instance or select Data Plane to deploy a remote data plane and specify the namespace where the operator was deployed.
    2. Create a runtime environment and select your PXRuntime instance as a hardware configuration.
    3. Set the project default environment.
