Known issues and limitations in Cognos Analytics

The following known issues and limitations apply to Cognos Analytics.

Known issues

Cannot use the Manage menu to back up the content store

Applies to: 4.7.0 and later

You cannot use the Manage > Content > Backup menu item to back up the content store in Cognos Analytics on Cloud Pak for Data.

Workaround

To back up the content store, you must use the Administration console. For more information, see Backing up and restoring content in the Cognos Analytics documentation.

Specify the Cognos Analytics URL in Microsoft Teams

Applies to: 4.7.0 and later

If you are using Cognos Analytics with Microsoft Teams, you must ensure that the Cognos Analytics URL ends with bi/ when adding the URL to Microsoft Teams. For example,
https://cpd-ca.example.com/cognosanalytics/cat3/bi/

IBM Db2 database server cannot use Oracle compatibility mode when creating the content store

Applies to: 4.7.0 and later

If you configured the IBM® Db2® database server to use Oracle compatibility mode, you must temporarily disable the Oracle compatibility mode before creating the content store. After creating the content store, configure the IBM Db2 database server to use Oracle compatibility mode again. For details, see https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/515565.

Limitations

Cognos Analytics connection not supported by the Cognos Analytics service in Cloud Pak for Data

Applies to: 4.7.0 and 4.7.1

Fixed in: 4.7.2

The Cognos Analytics connection is supported only for connections to a stand-alone Cognos Analytics server.

Cannot create dashboards with Cognos PowerCubes

Applies to: 4.7.0, 4.7.1, and 4.7.2

Fixed in: 4.7.3

You cannot create a dashboard using the Cognos PowerCubes package.

Cannot authenticate Cognos Analytics Framework Manager using SAMLv2

Applies to: 4.7.0 and later

If you use Framework Manager, you are not able to authenticate using SAMLv2 and you are not redirected to the SAMLv2 authentication page.

Cannot use HTML iFrame embedded elements for sharing reports

Applies to: 4.7.0, 4.7.1, and 4.7.2.

Fixed in: 4.7.3

You cannot use the HTML iFrame embedded element to share reports.

Resolving the problem

To allow embedded or shared links to your reports and dashboards, set up a reverse proxy to secure your Cloud Pak for Data server. For more information, see Embedding or sharing links to Cognos Analytics reports and dashboards.
