Configuring Db2 Data Gate query acceleration

The setup of the query acceleration feature requires a Db2 Warehouse target database, a few ZPARM settings on the Db2 for z/OS® side and the selection of a check box on your Db2 Data Gate instance.

Before you begin

Make sure that the Db2 Warehouse service is installed on Cloud Pak for Data.

Procedure

  1. Create a Db2 Warehouse target database.
    You can create the target database while you are provisioning your Db2 Data Gate instance.
  2. As you create the instance, select Use this data gate instance for query acceleration.
  3. On the DSNTIP82 installation panel of the connected Db2 for z/OS system, set the following Db2 for z/OS ZPARMs:
    • ACCEL=AUTO
    • QUERY_ACCEL_OPTIONS=TRUE

    The second setting brings up the DSNTIP8A panel, which allows you to select the types and characteristics of queries that will be routed to Db2 Data Gate. For a description of the individual options, see Setting ZPARMs for IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator in Db2 for z/OS.
