If you can't find the data that you need, or if you don't have access to a data source
where the data is stored, you can submit a data request.
Common core services This feature is available only if the
Cloud Pak for Data
common core services are installed. If you don't see
the Data entry in the navigation, the common core services are not installed.
Procedure
To submit a request for data:
- From the navigation menu, select .
- Click New data request.
- On the Overview tab, provide information about what you
need:

Required Enter a meaningful display name so that you can find your request
later.

Issue link |
Optional If you are also tracking this request in a defect management system, you can add
a link to the existing issue.

Description |
Optional Enter a brief description of what you are looking for. This description helps the
responder fulfill the request. For example, you can indicate that you need access to a specific data
source or that you are looking for a data set that contains a specific type of data.

Add to project |
Optional If you are working in a project, you can indicate which project the request is
associated with.
|
Priority |
Optional Specify whether the request is low, medium, or high priority.
|
Data intent |
Optional Specify how you plan to use the data. This information helps the responder
understand what you need to do with the data, which can help them determine how to fulfill the
request. For example, you can indicate that you plan to use the data to develop a machine learning
model or that you need to cleanse and shape the data.

- On the Attributes tab, you can optionally provide information
about the specific data that you are looking for.
You can specify one or more attributes.
To add an attribute, click New attribute and specify the following
information:

Required Specify the name of the attribute that you are looking for. This information
helps the responder identify relevant data.

Optional Select the type of data that you need. For example, you can specify that you're
looking for a string, an integer, and so on.

Optional Enter a brief description of what you are looking for. This information helps the
responder understand the data that you are looking for. If they cannot find the exact data that you
are requesting, this information might help them identify related data.

Click Create to add the attribute.

You can check the status of your request from:
- The Requests card on your home page.
- The
page.
