Identifying tasks that need to be completed
Depending on your role, you might be assigned tasks that need to be completed. Alternatively, you might be able to help your colleagues by responding to requests.
Data requests
Common core services This feature is available only if the Cloud Pak for Data common core services are installed. If you don't see the Data entry in the navigation or the Requests card on the home page, the common core services are not installed.
When a user needs help finding or accessing data, they can submit a data request.
You can see whether any data requests need to be fulfilled from the following locations:
- The Requests card on your home page. Click the Data requests section to go to the Data requests page.
- The page.
If there are any tasks in the New state, you can assign the request to yourself so that you can fulfill it. For details, see Responding to data requests.
Publishing requests
Common core services This feature is available only if the Cloud Pak for Data common core services are installed. If you don't see the Data entry in the navigation or the Requests card on the home page, the common core services are not installed.
When a user wants to publish data assets, connections, connected folder assets, or notebooks to a catalog, they can submit a publishing request. Depending on the policies that your company uses, the request might need to be reviewed before the assets can be published.
You can see whether any publishing requests need to be reviewed from the following locations:
- The Requests card on your home page. Click the Pending publish to catalog requests section to go to the Pending requests tab on the Publish to catalog requests page.
Task inbox
Service This feature is available only if Watson™ Knowledge Catalog is installed. If you don't see the Task inbox entry in the navigation or the Task inbox card on the home page, Watson Knowledge Catalog is not installed.
If your company uses workflows to manage business processes, you might be assigned tasks to complete based on your role.
You can see the tasks that are assigned to you from the following locations:
- The Task inbox card on your home page. Click the Assigned to you section to go to the Assigned to you tab on the Task inbox page.
- The Task inbox page.
If a task is assigned to you and several other people, click Claim task to let the other assignees know that you are working on the task.
The task should include any information that you need to complete the task.
