Preparing to install Watson Speech services

This page provides information that you need to be aware of before installing Watson Speech services.

Before you begin

IBM Cloud Pak® for Data can be deployed in various private cloud and public cloud environments. For more information, see Cloud deployment environments. Watson Speech services support the on-premises, IBM Cloud, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructures. Watson Speech services do not support the Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud infrastructures.

Watson Speech services support single-zone OpenShift® deployments. Watson Speech services do not support multi-zone deployments, but they do support multi-tenancy. You can install the services multiple times on the same cluster by installing them in separate namespaces (IBM Cloud Pak for Data deployments). You can install the services in separate projects, or install them once and provision multiple instances in the same project.

To install Watson Speech services, you must accept the product license terms. You are strongly encouraged to read the full terms of the license agreement. (The link requires you to leave the IBM web site.) For the installation to succeed, you must specify your acceptance of the license agreement in the custom resource.

Creating secrets objects for Watson Speech services datastores

You can create access credentials for your MinIO, PostgreSQL, and RabbitMQ datastores by creating secrets objects before you install the datastores. Creating secrets objects for your datastores is optional. Secrets are generated automatically during installation if you do not create your own. You can always update your credentials after installation, including as a best practice for security.
