Assigning roles to users in Watson Query

IBM Cloud Pak® for Data users that need to use Watson Query functions must be assigned specific Watson Query roles based on their job description.

Note: Cloud Pak for Data users groups can be granted access to Watson Query from Instances > watson -query > Manage access. For more information, see Assigning roles to groups in Watson Query.

Before you begin

You can use LDAP to authorize your users before you add a Watson Query role. See Connecting to your LDAP server for details.

Procedure

To assign a Watson Query role to an existing Cloud Pak for Data user, the Watson Query Admin must complete the following steps.

  1. On the navigation menu, click Data > Data virtualization.
    The service menu opens to the Data sources page by default.
  2. On the service menu, click User management.

    The list of users that have a Watson Query role appears.

  3. Click Grant access to assign Watson Query roles to Cloud Pak for Data users.
  4. Select the checkbox for the username that you want to assign a Watson Query role.
  5. Click the arrow for the user and select the Watson Query role from the list.
  6. Click Add.
