Importing reports and generating the framework

After you upgrade OpenPages®, import the platform reports package to update the reports that are used with Cognos® Analytics, and then generate the reporting framework. Do this task if you use Cognos Analytics.

Before you begin

  • The OpenPages instance is running.
  • The Cognos Analytics instance is running.

Procedure

  1. Log on to Cognos Analytics as a user with administrative privileges by doing one of the following steps:
    • In OpenPages, click Analytics.
    • Or, go to the following URL: http://<hostname>/ibmcognos/bi

      Where <hostname> is the name of the Cognos Analytics instance.

  2. Click Manage > Administration Console to launch the IBM Cognos Administration page.
  3. Click the Configuration tab, and then and click Content Administration.
    Tip: To access this area in IBM® Cognos Administration, you must have the required permissions for the Administration secured feature.
  4. On the toolbar, click New Import.
  5. From the Deployment archive list, select the <instance_name>-OpenPages_Platform_Reports package.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Type a unique name, an optional description, and a screen tip for the deployment archive, select the folder where you want to save the package, and then click Next.
  8. In the Public folders, directory and library content box, set the target folder. Choose the <instance_name> folder, and then click OK.

    The Public folders, directory and library content page is displayed. In the Target name column, click the edit icon. The is selected. The Specify the target location page is displayed. Click Select another location and choose the <instance_name> folder.
  9. Click Next.
  10. On the Specify the general options page, accept the default options and click Next.
  11. On the Review the summary page, review the settings and click Next.
  12. On the Select an action page, click Finish.
  13. On the Run with options page, click Run and then, on the IBM Cognos software page, click OK.
  14. To view the imported package and reports, click the Home icon, and select the folder where you imported them.
  15. In OpenPages, generate the reporting framework.

Results

You can now open the reports.

You now have the following folders in Cognos Analytics:
  • Team Content > <instance_name> > OpenPages Platform Reports

    This folder contains the 8.3x platform reports.

  • Team Content > <instance_name> > OpenPages Platform V6

    This folder contains the 8.2x platform reports.

  • Team Content > <instance_name> > OpenPages Solutions V6

    This folder contains the 8.2x solutions reports.

What to do next

Update CrossTrack links in reports. Version 8.300.x uses updated JavaScript for CrossTrack links.
  • If you want to continue to use reports in the OpenPages Platform v6 folder, update the CrossTrack links in the reports you want to use.
  • Update solutions reports in the OpenPages Solutions V6 folder with the updated JavaScript. for CrossTrack links.
  • If you have custom reports, update them to use the updated JavaScript for CrossTrack links.
