Post-installation tasks

After you install Cloud Pak for Data, complete the following tasks.

Specifying the install plan for operators that are automatically installed by Operand Deployment Lifecycle Manager
When you create a Cloud Pak for Data software operator subscription, you can specify whether Red Hat OpenShift automatically loads newer versions of the operator or whether it creates an update request that must be approved by a cluster administrator. However, any operators that are automatically installed by another Cloud Pak for Data software operator are created with the automatic install plan.
Integrating with the IAM Service
By default, IBM Cloud Pak for Data user records are stored in an internal repository database. However, it is strongly recommended that you use an enterprise-grade password management solution, such as single sign-on (SSO) or LDAP.
Making monitoring data highly available
IBM Cloud Pak for Data monitoring data is stored in an embedded InfluxDB database. By default, only one replica of the database deployed. However, if you want to ensure that the monitoring data is highly available, you can increase the number of replicas.
Changing the route to the platform
In Red Hat OpenShift, a route is how you expose a service. A route is an externally reachable hostname, such as https://www.ibm.com. IBM Cloud Pak for Data supports two different methods for changing the route to the platform.
Configuring an external route to the Flight service
The Flight service is a data connection service that enables assets, such as notebooks, to interact with various data sources without calling the REST APIs for the data sources. By default, the Flight service is only available to the IBM Cloud Pak for Data instance where the Flight service is running. However, a Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform project administrator can create an external route to the Flight service to enable other applications to interact with it.
Securing communication ports
To ensure secure transmission of network traffic to and from the Cloud Pak for Data cluster, you need to configure the communication ports used by the network.
Setting up the Cloud Pak for Data web client
After you install Cloud Pak for Data, you can configure the web client to add users and set up email notifications.
