Managing access to Streams

If you want other users to be able to manage or use this IBM Streams service instance, you as the service instance creator and administrator must grant them permission.

Before you begin

The user to be granted permission must be added to Cloud Pak for Data. For more information, see Predefined roles and permissions.

About this task

The following roles are used by the Streams service instance:
Administrator
This role has authority to manage the service instance. For example, users that are assigned this role can manage access and roles, change the configuration of the service instance, delete the service instance, and submit and cancel jobs.
User
This role has authority to use the service instance. For example, users that are assigned to this role can view service instance properties and submit jobs. They can also perform the following tasks for jobs that they submitted: list the jobs and cancel the jobs.
Important: To complete this task, you must be the user that provisioned this service instance or have been assigned to the administrator role for this service instance. Granting users access to this service instance by assigning them to the administrator role applies only to the current service instance; it does not grant the user administrator permissions for other IBM Cloud Pak for Data service instances. Conversely, even if users are an Cloud Pak for Data administrator, they are not automatically authorized to manage this service instance unless they are explicitly granted administrator access to this service instance.

Procedure

To grant access to a Streams service instance :

  1. From the IBM Cloud Pak for Data web user interface navigation menu, click Services > Instances.
  2. From the service instance options menu, click Manage access.
  3. From the Manage access page, you can choose from the following actions:
    • Add users: Grant additional users access to the service instance and specify their role.

    • Remove: Remove a user's access to the service instance.
