When you work with batch document processing applications, batches can be sent automatically from integrated applications, such as IBM® Datacap. In some cases, you might need to manually upload a batch.
Procedure
To upload a new batch:
-
In Business
Automation Navigator, open your
application.
- Click
and enter a batch name, and other optional properties:
- Description - Explain what this batch is about.
- Priority - Communicate to your team the importance of this batch.
- Group - Sort the batches in groups, according to a categorization that
makes sense for your organization, for example which team must process this batch.
- Location - You can indicate a location for your batch, such as the
physical location of the original scanned files (if scanned for IBM Datacap for example).
- Click Select files and select the documents you want to add to
your batch.
Note: Supported file types include PDF, Microsoft Word (docx and
doc), and Image documents (jpg, jpeg,
jpe, png, tiff, tif). You might
not be able to upload all these types, as they are defined during the development of the
application. Contact your administrator to know about the supported formats for your
application.
- Optional: If you are prompted to select the document type in the
Add files dialog, you can manually set the document type, or you can keep the
default setting and click Add. The documents are classified with the type
that was selected.
Depending on your application configuration, you might not see this dialog and your files are
directly uploaded.
Results
The documents are uploaded and processed by the machine learning model. Select the batch name or
click Open from the overflow menu to see the batch details. You can see the
status of each document, and add more documents to this batch if needed.
You can add more batches while other batches are being uploaded and processed.
After a batch is submitted, you cannot add any more documents to this batch.
If batches are incorrectly classified, their status indicates Document
issues.
If you close your browser before the upload of files is complete, the status might remain
Uploading or Created indefinitely. In this case, you
must delete your batch and re-create it.
What to do next
Follow the procedure in Fixing classification issues.
