Calculating your capacity usage

You can use the license calculator (Microsoft Excel worksheet) to help you manage your entitlements.

About this task

For Cloud Pak for Business Automation containers, the IBM® License Service (Cloud Pak foundational services) can be configured to report the deployments of each offering in each container. A License Service report provides the container size and how that relates to your entitlements by using the VPC-to-license ratio. For more information, see License Service usage metering and reporting .

Note: The reports are updated in the License Service every 24 hours.

The license calculator worksheet helps you to calculate the VPC license requirements for each of the Cloud Pak for Business Automation components that are installed on Red Hat® OpenShift® or a traditional virtual machine (VM) environment.

Note: If a capability is configured to measure other available metrics, for example authorized users or concurrent users, then refer to the Conversion calculator or a selected Methodology for your license metric on the Software Licensing & Compliance pages.

1. Download the license calculator worksheet by contacting your IBM representative. For more information, see https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6473171 .
2. Open the worksheet, and go to the instructions in the Info tab.
3. Go to the other tabs, and enter your values in the tables.
   Note: The values are a point in time that looks at your capacity usage. Bear in mind that it might not account for peak usage and your values provide only a snapshot of the overall usage.

   As you enter your values, the color of the "Totals" cell on the Managing CP4BA Capacity Licenses tab shows whether your usage exceeds your entitlements.

   • Green shows usage is equal to or less than your current entitlements.
   • Red shows usage is more than your current entitlements.
